Santa Barbara’s housing crisis has led to skyrocketing rents and a surge in working-class Latino families being evicted from their homes without fair reason.
CAUSE Ventura Chapter leaders mobilized to defeat an effort by developers to remove the city's inclusionary housing policy, which sets aside housing for low and moderate income families
In August 2013, the Oxnard City Council voted to make the Del Norte Regional Recycling and Waste Transfer Station a publicly-operated facility rather than contracting out to a private company. The city will be running its recycling center beginning in February 2014 and is in the process of creating a business plan, which could include some major changes to transform trash in Oxnard.
