Letter to Oxnard City Council on transforming recycling

In August 2013, the Oxnard City Council voted to make the Del Norte Regional Recycling and Waste Transfer Station a publicly-operated facility rather than contracting out to a private company.  The city will be running its recycling center beginning in February 2014 and is in the process of creating a business plan, which could include some major changes to transform trash in Oxnard.

CAUSE is conducting research and making recommendations to city officials based on four goals:

1) Ensuring good working conditions in this dangerous industry

2) Making the center a leader in environmental sustainability

3) Using the revenue for public and community benefits

4) Building partnerships with local job-creating industries that use recycled products
